Education of youth

All who have meditated on the art of governing mankind have been convinced that the fate of empires depends on the education of youth. Aristotle 384 – 322 B.C. I really love this quotation from Aristotle because I believe it contains so much truth. Considering that it was written over 2,300 years ago, you’d think society would have learned to recognize the wisdom of these words and act accordingly. Why stress affects our performance

To him who is in fear everything rustles. Sophocles c. 495 – 406 B.C. Sian Beilock and Thomas Carr, psychologists who specialize in studying how stress affects performance, recently reported on an experiment involving college students taking math exams. When the students were told the exam was just for practice, they scored 10% higher than when they took an equivalent exam and were told their test scores would be used as part of a competition for cash prizes.
